ETA Claims “Permanent” Ceasefire Still in Place
January 10, 2007 on 11:27 am | In General | 2 CommentsAccording to an article on the BBC news website, the Basque separatist group ETA have claimed responsibility for the bomb that went off in a car park in Barajas Airport (Madrid) on 30th December. In the same statement, it seems the ETA spokesman confirmed that the “permanent ceasefire”, announced by the group last March, is still in place.
In further news from the Basque Country, an eighteen year-old girl had sex for the first time at a New Year’s Eve party in Bilbao. In a recent statement to the press, she claimed full responsibility for the sexual act and affirmed that her virginity was still in place.
Meanwhile the Basque Vegetarian Society (Euskadi Gizarte Barazkijale) hosted their AGM and dinner-dance where members enjoyed a delicious steak dinner. “We are still vegetarians,” the Society’s president announced.

Charges Against Saddam Dropped
January 8, 2007 on 2:19 pm | In In The News | 1 CommentIt seems that the Iraqi High Tribunal has dropped the remaining charges against Saddam Hussein (BBC report).
Well, it’s good to see that they have a grasp of the fundamentals of jurisprudence, such as having a living defendant. Still, I think they’re sending the wrong message out to dead dictators everywhere. Next someone will find a mass grave in Romania but no one will be arsed bringing charges against Nicolae CeauÅŸescu.
What is the world coming to?
Song of the Day: New Year’s Day
January 1, 2007 on 1:59 pm | In Song of the Day | No CommentsPerformer: U2
Composer: U2
Year: 1983
Album: War
Why I Like It: I love pretty much everything U2 have ever produced but I thought this was an appropriate choice for today. I do particularly like this song though, for its lyrics, the simple but catchy baseline and the guitar solo.
Trivia: U2 flew from Ireland to Sweden to film the video for New Year’s Day so that they could ride horses in the snow. While they were there, Ireland got some of the heaviest snow-fall it has ever had.
